CUSTOM HOMES.
BUILT TO OUTLAST US.
A general contractor in North Idaho. We build six to eight custom homes a year. We do it slowly. We do it right. We don't take on more.
— SELECTED WORK —

— THE PROCESS —
EIGHTEEN TO TWENTY-FOUR MONTHS, PER HOUSE.
I — DISCOVERY
Three to four meetings on the lot before a line is drawn. We walk the site at different times of day. We meet the lot, the trees, the light, the neighbours.
II — DESIGN
Working with your architect or one of ours. Schematic through construction drawings. We pressure-test every detail against what we can actually build.
III — BREAK GROUND
Site prep, foundation, framing. We own the schedule from day one. You get a weekly Friday photo report and an hour on the phone if you want one.
IV — BUILD
Twelve to sixteen months of actual construction. Same crew on your house from frame to finish. No subbing out trim or finish work to outside hands.
V — DELIVER
Punch list, full walkthrough, one-year warranty inspection. We come back at six months and twelve months whether you call or not.
— THE STUDIO —
SIX BUILDS A YEAR. ON PURPOSE.
Marcus Vance and Henry Reid founded Cornerstone in 1998 in a borrowed pickup truck outside Coeur d'Alene. Twenty-eight years and two-hundred-and-forty-seven homes later, the truck is gone. The two of them still walk every site.
The shop sits on Industrial Drive in Hayden — a six-bay timber yard with a steel mill out back and a project office out front. By appointment.
WHY WE CAP THE BOOK
We turn down two-thirds of inquiries. Capacity is the entire business. Six homes a year, twenty-eight years, run by the two of us — that is the whole company.
WHO WE WORK WITH
Owners who want to be involved without micromanaging. Architects we already know, or ones we vet before kickoff. We don't build spec houses. We don't flip.
WHAT WE WON'T DO
No fast-tracked builds. No value-engineered substitutions to hit a price point. No spec finishes pulled from a Home Depot truck. The house is the price.
BEGIN A PROJECT.
CURRENTLY BOOKING 2027.
We open the book twice a year. Two slots remain for 2027. Send a paragraph about the lot, the program, and what you want the house to feel like. We'll write back within the week.
